For this project I was asked to answer the following question with either a 1,000-1,500 page paper or a 10-15 minute video "How can you, and will you, apply what you learned in Agile Product Management to your life (personally & professionally)?"
I chose to create a video, looking to practice and improve on my digital storytelling, video editing.
The objective, and criteria presented to us for this assignment were as follows.
Show understanding in your explanation of the concepts learned in class.
Use specific and relevant examples for each concept described in paper/video.
Use appropriate terminology and references to the course readings, videos, and activities.
Effectively organize the response in an engaging, easy-to-read/view, and understandable way that tells a personal story.
FOR VIDEO: Must include error free visuals such as slides, images, etc. to support your story.
I wanted this video to reflect my personal, day to day, experience with Agile. I started by writing out the key points I wanted to share, dividing them into sections for my video. Then I was able to do some story-boarding to figure out how I wanted my shots to look.
Filming was a bit of a struggle. I didn't have any of the proper tools besides a quality camera on my phone. To get the height and framing I wanted I needed a tripod, but I didn't have a tripod. I ended up stacking stools and putting my phone in a shoe. I didn't have a proper mic either, so I talked to myself in my head to keep timing. This way I could make my exaggerated hand movements line up with my voiceover to help convey my message.
The only portion of this video that didn't require me to line up separate audio tracks were the portions at the end where I talk directly to the camera.
Editing was rushed, my project was way larger than anyone in my class attempted. I had to record and line up many voiceover clips, and even attempted some visual editing I had never tried before. At around 1:40 I was able to stitch two clips of myself together with proper timing, and framing. This was a risky use of time, considering I didn't have any proper filming equipment. I was able to film the shots I stitched together with perfect timing, but the framing was off by a significant amount. I was able to figure out a way to fix the framing in post and am proud of how that shot turned out.
Here is the completed video. You should be able to click play and watch it within my website, or click 'pop-out' (in the top right of the video) to view it in a new tab.
It was filmed vertically on my Google Pixel 7, so choosing a larger viewing option may be a better experience.
This project provided me with practical insights into applying Agile principles into my life I was able to improve my digital storytelling and video editing skills using Adobe Premiere Pro. I improved my skills in content planning, especially dealing with limited resources and having to be resourceful to create what I intended. I learned a lot about editing, it was challenging due to the project's scale and timing. I successfully synchronized voice-over clips and overcame framing issues in post-production that I had not experienced before. This project not only taught me more about filming editing and storytelling, but also the importance of adaptability and creativity when facing limitations.
